Shill or Stooge? American Hunters and Shooters Association

The American Hunters and Shooters Association, which bills itself as an alternative to the National Rifle Association for hunters and sport shooters, has exposed itself as either a shill for Obummer's gun control agenda or a stooge played by the Obamites. The AHSA had endorsed Obummer for President in 2008, with AHSA President Ray Schoenke telling gun owners that Obummer "gets it" on gun rights, largely based upon a single Senate vote, on Sen. David Vitter's (R-LA) amendment to H.R.5441. Said amendment "To prohibit the confiscation of a firearm during an emergency or major disaster if the possession of such firearm is not prohibited under Federal or State law." Schoenke ignored the rest of Obama's record and statements which were anti-second amendment rights.

In post after post after post after post after post after post after post at AHSA, Schoenke stated that Obama was not going to go after people's guns. Schoenke, hypocritically enough, even villified the NRA for endorsing McCain.

After the presidential election, moron Schoenke actually went even further out on his precarious perch of stoogification (or shillification) and pronounced: "So why is the NRA "shooting blanks" these days? Because they don’t get it. The landscape has changed. With the Supreme Court overturning the D.C. gun ban, our gun rights are secure and government confiscation is off the table." Here's the post.

From reading the American Hunters and Shooters Association site, I have come to the conclusion that it is nothing more than pro-Obama/Democrat and anti-NRA propaganda. I have noticed that none of Schoenke's posts in the past year have comments. I have attempted to leave civilly written comments, but none were approved. Apparently ASHA is very Obamite in nature, tolerating no dissent. One would hope that Schoenke and Co. would be amply rewarded for being such faithful Obama acolytes.

It appears that Schoenke and his band of Obamorons did not get their anticipated rewards for such copious Obama bootlicking during the campaign. After Schoenke put his and his organizations credibility on the line by repeatedly endorsing Obama, promising that gun owners had nothing to fear from The One, and trashing the NRA and Sen. John McCain, Schoenke and the ASHA wound up with major egg on their facess. This occurred with the appointment by Obama and subsequent confirmation of Eric Holder as attorney general, and Holder's comments in support of reenacting the misnamed 1994 assault weapons ban.

Ironically, without issuing a formal mea culpa, Schoenke appears to admit he has "been had" in his February 26, 2009 letter to Attorney General Eric Holder. In this letter protesting Holder's comments about reinstating the so-called assault weapons ban, Schoenke states, "It is my understanding that the Obama administration continues to state its intention to reinstate that ban." Interesting. Just when was Schoenke aware that the Obama agenda included reinstating the so-called assault weapons ban?

I am waiting for Schoenke's letter of protest to DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano about the DHS report labelling second amendment advocates as "right-wing extremists". I am also waiting for Schoenke's letter of protest over Obummer's expressed intention to have the Inter-American Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking of Firearms (CIFTA) ratified to appease Mexico.

Needless to say, I won't be holding my breath waiting for such letters or for an apology to gun owners from Schoenke or the AHSA. Those clowns do not represent the interests of law-abiding gun owners.

Shill or Stooge? I can't decide.
